SAESTWO - Nominasi MTV Movie Awards 2012 telah diumumkan. Tahun ini akan ada 12 kategori, dengan 5 di antaranya kategori baru. Yang juga baru, nominasi kali ini dipilih oleh panel yang terdiri atas aktor, produser, agen, dan pelaku industri film, bukan pilihan publik yang didapat dari voting online.
Namun, masyarakat tetap bisa memilih pemenang melalui voting online yang dimulai hari ini. Perhelatan penghargaan film versi MTV yang memperebutkan piala Golden Popcorn ini, akan diadakan di Gibson Amphitheatre, Universal City, 3 Juni mendatang.
Ajang penghargaan MTV Movie Awards 2012 akan menyuguhkan persaingan ketat antara dua film yang mendominasi nominasi, yakni The Hunger Games dan Bridesmaids. Masing-masing menduduki delapan nominasi. The Hunger Gamesterpilih untuk nominasi dalam kategori movie of the year, best male performance, best female performance, breakthrough performance, best cast,best on screen transformation, best fight, dan best kiss.
Sedangkan Bridesmaids berjuang di kategori movie of the year, best female performance,best comedic performance (dua nominasi), breakthrough performance, best cast, best gut-wrenching performance, dan best on screen dirtbag. Artinya, kedua film yang berbeda genre itu akan bersaing di empat kategori yang sama.
Yang menarik lagi, kali ini yang bersaing di penampilan aktor dan aktris terbaik, didominasi artis muda. Kategori best male performance, akan diperebutkan oleh Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2), Ryan Gosling (Drive), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (50/50), Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), dan Channing Tatum (The Vow).
